What is probate?

Probate is the court process that confirms a Will is valid and formally authorises the executor to administer the estate. We prepare and lodge the probate application, and represent you through the process from start to finish.

Letters of Administration (no valid Will)

If someone dies without a valid Will, there's no executor named to act. Letters of Administration is the process that appoints someone, usually a close family member, to administer the estate instead, following the rules of intestacy. We guide you through applying for this and what it means for how the estate is distributed.

Administering the estate

Once probate or Letters of Administration is granted, the real work begins: identifying and collecting assets, paying debts and liabilities, dealing with the deceased's tax affairs, and distributing what remains in line with the Will or the intestacy rules.
