Before you sign anything, get the contract checked by someone who knows what to look for. A contract review isn't just a quick read-through, it's a proper legal check of the title, the terms, and any special conditions that could affect you later.

What's included

• A review of special conditions and anything unusual in the contract
• An explanation, in plain English, of what you're agreeing to and what it means for you
• Advice on your cooling-off rights (or lack of them, if you're buying at auction)
• Guidance on next steps, whether that's negotiating changes, organising a building and pest inspection, or proceeding to exchange

Why review before you sign, not after

Once you exchange contracts, you're bound by what's in them (subject to any cooling-off rights). A review before exchange means any issues can still be negotiated or resolved. A review after signing can only tell you what you've already agreed to.
