Buying a property is exciting, but it's also legally binding the moment you exchange contracts. We're here to make sure you understand exactly what you're agreeing to, well before that moment arrives.

How we help buyers

Contract review, before you commit. Send us the contract as early as possible, ideally before you make an offer. We check the title, special conditions, and anything unusual, so problems surface while you can still negotiate or walk away, not after you're locked in. We offer a free initial contract review.

Cooling-off periods, explained properly. If you're buying by private treaty, NSW law gives you a 5-business-day cooling-off period after exchange. You can withdraw during this time, but you'll forfeit 0.25% of the purchase price. We'll explain whether waiving this period (via a section 66W certificate) makes sense for your situation, and make sure you're not giving up protection you didn't need to.

Buying at auction. There's no cooling-off period once the hammer falls. We recommend having your contract reviewed before auction day so you know exactly what you're bidding on. More on auction contract reviews →

Understanding exchange and settlement. Exchange is when the sale becomes binding and your deposit is paid. Settlement, usually 30 to 90 days later, is when the balance is paid and you get the keys. We'll walk you through both stages as they happen.

Buying through a trust, company or SMSF. Each structure has its own requirements, particularly for SMSF purchases involving a limited recourse borrowing arrangement. We'll make sure your structure is ready to go before exchange.

First home buyers. You may be eligible for the First Home Owner Grant, stamp duty concessions, or the First Home Buyer Assistance Scheme. We'll check what applies to you and handle the paperwork.
